INFORMATION NOTES CHAMPS TIMES TWO The fourth and last round of National Cadet League matches was held at Stowupland on Saturday 29 March 2008 with both Chelmsford teams knowing that they needed just eight wins each from twenty four matches to win their respective Divisions. In Division 1 Chelmsford A, fielding the same team as for the previous three rounds, Brandon Crouchman, Scott Dowsett and James Austin, continued to stamp their authority on the Division. Opening up with a match against the team second in the Division, Bury St. Edmonds, George Kizis tried his best to delay the relentless march by taking both Brandon and Scott to a fourth game but the result was 6-0 to Chelmsford. The title was now guaranteed as with other results only one win was required and this would be given to them by Stowmarket B who had only two players. Brandon quickly demolished Adam Dismore 7, 1, 4 but James had more trouble with Adam before winning -4, -9, 9, 8, 4 for another 6-0 win. The title won they should have been able to relax but Kings Lynn were determined not to allow this. In the opening match Scott found Stanley Rolfe to hot to handle. After winning the first to 7 he succumbed 8, 9, 5 in the next three for his first loss of the series other than to Martin West. Brandon was taken to four in his opening match against Mark Skipper and James to four by Claire Wiggs. Scott found Claire even more of a problem. After winning the first two 5, 10, he lost the next two 8, 9 and only after frantic coaching advice did he manage to pull the deciding set around to 6. A 5-1 win. Their last match of the day was against NETTS Boys and Scotts’s loss of form continued. After falling 8, 6, behind he pulled the next two back 6, 6 only to lose the decider to 6. Against Luke, Brandon took the first 13-11, lost the second 11-13 and themn found the range to win the next two 11-7, 11-4. James won both his games in three ans scott finished the match with a 1, 2, 6 win over Patrick Gilbert for a 5-1 win. The Division was won by a massive 29 points. It was a similar story for Chelmsford B, Matthew Davis, Robert Shrimpton and Sarah Austin playing in all four rounds of matches. For this last round matches would be best of six instead of the best of nine played in previous rounds. Robert lost the opening match to Jedd Fernley of TT on Sea B 9,7,7, but thereafter the remaining matches were won easily three straight. As with the A team other results meant that only one win was needed from the next match to take the Division. This was duly achieved by Matthew with a 2, 5, 0 win over Thurstable A’s Tom Eden. Sarah won both her games in four against Ben Page and Tom whilst Robert was taken to five by both Brett Melia, -10, 5, -9, 8, 6 and, in the last match, 8, -11, 5, -8, 12 by Ben for the 6-0 win. In the final two matches against Thurstable B and Framlingham Earl both were won 6-0. Sarah was taken to four by Thurstable’s Jack Burns and Robert to four by Framlingham’s Sam Dismore, all other matches being won 3-0. Framlingham Earl’s defeat meant that they lost the runners up position on countback to Thurstable A, with points equal the match scores between the two teams was 8-7. Chelmsford B won the Division by a massive 28 points. Final Table positions are:
