INFORMATION NOTES NATIONAL CADET LEAGUE 09 FEBRUARY 2008 The third round of National Cadet League matches was held at Stowupland on Saturday 9 February 2008. In Division 1 Chelmsford A , comprising Brandon Crouchman, Scott Dowsett and James Austin continued to stamp their authority on the Division with four 6-0 wins over Kings Lynn, Netts Boys, Wymondham, and TT-on-Sea A and a 4-2 win over Stowmarket A and now lead the Division by 16 points on the point a game system. Only five of the 28 matches played (the Kings Lynn team only had two players) were not decided three straight. Wins over Kings Lynn were all three straight and only in the opening game against NETTS Boys did Scott Dowsett get taken to four by Luke Tarrant. Again the opening game against Wymondham’s Sam Rock took Scott more than three to win, this time the full distance -9, 4, 9, -6, 7 and James came through the last game against George Bunn -16, 5, 7, 6. Against Stowmarket A Brandon and Scott both lost to Martin West more easily than in January’s fixture and Becky McIntyre took James to four in the last game for the team win. Again in the win over TT-on-Sea it was only James who was taken to four in the last game by Ben Langton 8, 7, -11, 5. It was a similar story for Chelmsford B, comprising Matthew Davis, Robert Shrimpton and Sarah Austin with wins of 8-1 over Thurstable B and Framlingham Earl and 9-0 over NETTS Girls. They now lead their Division by 17 points. Against Thurstable B Sarah lost the middle game against Ben Page 10, -12, 7, -5, 9 whilst Robert needed four sets in the last game to beat Ben -5, 5, 10, 10. The match against Framlingham Earl was expected to be the B Team’s toughest match since both teams were equal top after the previous round of matches. Two easy opening wins for Matthew and Robert but Sarah lost to the opposition number three Sam Dismore 9, 13, 7 and in the next game Robert was taken to five by Tom Fox 8, -8, 7, -10, 6. Although three of the last five matches wet to four, including Matthew’s game against Tom, they were all won by the B Team. It later transpired that their opponents were without their top two players from the previous round of matches. The last match against NETTS Girls was an easy win, only Robert being taken to four by Becky Lockwood and no more than six points in any set being given away in the remaining eight matches. The next round of matches are on Saturday 29 March. Current Table positions are:
