By contrast to Divisions 1,3 & 5, Divisions 2 and 4 of the League provided clear cut winners and runners-up and a significant margin between those two teams and the rest. In fact these divisions might have been renamed the Danbury and Maldon Roadshow, for it was those two clubs that dominated proceedings almost from start to finish.

Geoff Beavington, Dave Finlayson and Gordon Gatheral have every reason to smile.
Their team Danbury C took the Div 2 title in convincing style with a
massive 11 point margin. The highest in any division this season.

Maldon B - Jon Batchford, Barry Mays, Richie Hughes & Brian Reidling -
Runners-Up in Div 2 pushing out their rivals in the last two matches of the season.

Back to Maldon again!
Maldon C, a new team to the League, comprising
Peter Orriss, Cathy Eakin, Colin Barrell and Shirley Carroll.
Winners of Div 4. Their points total of 77 was the highest in the League this season.

And from Maldon, of course back to Danbury!
Danbury F, represented here by Nick Duce and team captain Paul Durrands.
They pushed Maldon all the way but settled for the Runners-Up spot - 13 points clear of the third placed team.
Missing from the photo shoot was Richard Allen and also team reserves
Mark Hubbard and Richard Upson

Lack of resources for critical matches ruined the chances of gaining promotion for EEV B who for much of the season had been in second spot in Div 2. Featured here is Paul Richardson, one of the leading players in this division and team mate Pip French.

Joe Lewington, Ken James and Keith Woodcock of ECC D. Proved to be more than a match for any team in Div 2 on their day. The ruin of EEV B but no match for Maldon B who soundly beat them to take the RU spot.

Barry Mays of Maldon B has made tremendous progress in the last two seasons. Averaging just under 90% for the season is he now ready to take on the big boys of the first division?

Returning to the Chelmsford scene after a gap of some 10 years, Cathy Eakin made a tremendous impression for her team Maldon C in Div 4. Finishing with an average of some 83%.

Is this the essence of table tennis in division 4? Frank Neill (Baddow Village D) makes a welcome cup of tea - and, I spy, chocolate biscuits.
