Got any old pictures to lend that we can use on the history pages of this site?

Welcome to the latest edition of Picture News.

This edition features some more pictures from the M&G Investments Chelmsford Closed  Championships held over the weekend 23 - 25 January 2004. A few more pictures are at Issue 40 and 41 (link below). Pictures courtesy of official Tournament Photographer Arthur C Clark.

Surprisingly Gary Ward (Writtle) has never before won the 2Down Singles. Well he made up for it this year in style ousting former winner Bryn Thomas in an exciting final 5,-5,9,7

15 year old Laura Pyman (Baddow Village) has proved a great asset to the Chelmsford Girls squad since she started playing in the League not much more than a year ago now. And she proved just how far she has come taking the U15 Girls Singles in a nail biting final with friend and rival Lorna Staff (ECC) over 4 ends.

It was a good weekend for 15 year old Steve Clift (Baddow Village). He went home with two trophies! The  handicap events are amongst the most popular of the weekend, and to come through two and win is no mean achievement.  Steve came through a massve field of 61 entrants to win the Handicap Singles 21;7, 21:9 over fellow Division 6 player Hector Mcfarlane (OC's). Then combined with club mate Bob Francis to secure the Handicap Doubles 21:15, 21:17 over 3rd Division pairing Richard Hiskey and Bill Smith

Think he's watching the ball!  Rykki Vansertima (Baddow Village) made determination count where it mattered. Having lost to friend and rival Haydn Upson over 5 ends in the Junior Boys Singles, Rykki took his opportunity for revenge just at the right moment in the final of the U13 Singles in which he beat Haydn 7,9,9.
