Welcome to the latest edition of Picture News.

This week saw the start of the third season of the Chelmsford & District Table Tennis League's newest competition - CLICK. An Introductory League competition designed as a prelude for potential new players before entering into the main league.

And with 11 teams this year it will be the biggest season so far. 34 potential new players are already registered to play, most of these being juniors and from as young as 9. The pictures below feature some of the teams and players that took part in the opening matches. Perhaps the most eye catching performance of all this week was from the youngest team, Baddow Village M. They took on their club rivals and the far more experienced K team. But what a fight they put up. None more so than 10 year old Adam Pitt. At 9:6 down in the 5th against Rykki Vansertima he looked down and out. But he must be fuelled on Esso. He fought like a tiger, with recovery shots that even Matt Syed would have been proud of, running out 12:10 winner to give his team a valuable point.

The K team won the opening encounter 4:1

In orange, Sam Pitt & Philip Twite of Baddow Village J. To their right Chris Butler, Craig & Stewart Hiskey of Excalibur Knights. Ian and Craig playing in their first season in CLICK.
Baddow ran out 5:0 winners in the opening match, but only after Philip had come through a marathon encounter with Stewart 11:7 in the 5th.

All set to go.
Dylan Robbin-Coker and Matthew Shipperd of Baddow Village M.
Pairing up for the first time, this was to be Matthews debut in CLICK.
In the end the opposition were unable to attend on the night, so like the proverbial 'coiled spring' they are now on hold for their opening encounter.
