Welcome to the latest edition of Picture News - adopting the current house style.

This edition features some further pictures from the Chelmsford Championships held over the weekend 25 - 27 January 2002. A few more pictures will follow in a later edition.

It was quite a Tournament for the
Hill family.
11 year old Thomas, of Baddow Village TTC, turned out to be a double champion. Taking both the U13s and
Handicap Singles titles.
Brother Alistair won the Junior Handicap Singles, reached the semi final of the 4Down Singles and quarter final of the 2Down Singles.

Thomas is featured receiving
his Winners award from
Anna Emtage of
Tournament sponsors M&G

George Reeves of Rawreth TTC
lifting the Veterans Singles trophy in his first season in this age category.

In the final on Finals Night George
beat the holder John Holland to claim the prize from Anna Emtage of
Tournament sponsors M&G.

Not wishing to miss out,
John Holland of Elmtree Graphics TTC
took the Over 50s Singles title.
This is the sixth time in 12 years that John has taken the title - the first was in 1990/91!
Yes, answers on a postcard!
Who says table tennis isn't
a sport for all ages.

Up and coming stars
Keiran Lally (Maldon TTC) and Tony Halling (Rawreth TTC) made a formidable pairing in the Junior Doubles. Nevertheless they didn't have it all their own way and were pushed to the third end in the final by Leane Bentley and Matthew Staines before coming through 17,-13,12.
Not unexpectedly Keiran also went on to win the Junior Boys Singles and the U21 Singles, and Tony to win the U15 Singles.

It's all smiles for
Adrian Pitt (Baddow Village TTC). Runner-up last year, but this year Winner of the 2Down Singles
in a titanic battle with
Gary Ward (Writtle TTC).

Adrian was presented with his
trophy by the Mayor of Chelmsford, Councilor Christine Rycroft,
on the M&G sponsored Finals Night
.
