Welcome to the latest edition of Picture News - adopting the current house style.

A number of Chelmsford juniors featured in the recent Essex Junior Ranking Trials held at the BATTS Club at Harlow over the weekend 1-2 September. Below is just a small selection of shots from the event; courtesy of our resident photographer, and junior guru, Arthur C Clark.

TOP BOY
Keiran Lally
from Clacton, a member of the Maldon Club,
was winner of the U17 Boys event and subsequently ranked as Essex No.1 Junior Boy.

Top Girl
Leanne Bentley, a member of the ECC Club, won all her category matches at the trials and has been ranke No.3 at U17 in Essex. Pretty good when you consider Natalie Bawden is No.1!

First Taste
Both Rykki Vansertima and Haydn Upson of the Baddow Village Club had their first taste of competition at this higher level. They thought the experience was "great" and tasted some success in the group stages.

Newcomer
Although not able to attend the trials,
 Emily Philips,
aged 12, of the ECC Club looks to be a bright new find. She will be making her debut in the CLICK league this season, and you can expect to see her feature in future tournament events.

Better than Expected
Both John Patman and Ryan Pitt of the
Baddow Village Club caused a few surprises at the Trials, playing some of their best table tennis ever in the U17 event. Their efforts were rewarded with No.16 and No.21 rankings in the new Essex Junior Ranking list.

Watch this Boy
Alastair Hill of the ECC Club will have been slightly disappointed to have come away from the Trials with only a No.18 ranking in the U17 category. But his style and range of shots will make him a player to watch in Div 5 of the League this year.
