Welcome to the latest edition of Picture News - adopting the current house style.

The Chelmsford League has just completed its first professionally run CATTSS - Chelmsford Academy Table Tennis Summer School. The Summer School held between mid May and mid July was staged at the Baddow Village Club with leading Suffolk professional coach Peter Avenell as the Course Director. 11 youngsters most of whom had previously had a taste of table tennis through the League's introductory competition CLICK took part, representing the Baddow, ECC, Excalibur and Ingatestone Boys, club's. In addition to the coach, help was given by a number of local players including Steve Kerns, Jon Hill, Adrian Pitt, Neil Gooday and Dave Moles. The pictures below tell their own story.

Top Award
10 year old
Rykki Vansertima is presented with a special award for the most effort and improvement over the course. A serious finger injury had kept Rykki out of the first 2 weeks, but he more than made up for lost time by his effort and achievement over subsequent weeks.

Achievement
The youngest student 7 year old Hannah Pitt receives encouragement and her certificate of achievement from Coach Peter Avenell. Hannah has already achieved her Dunlop Skills Rookie Award.

It's Fun
Lee Cranmer, Jamie Urch, Hannah Pitt and Matthew Skeoch think it's fun being together!
After all table tennis is about enjoyment as well.
Lee, Jamie and Matthew all obtained Dunlop Skills Rookie Awards through the Course.

Concentration
Stewart Hiskey, demonstrates two of the lessons learnt; the need for concentration at all times during play, and the ideal ready position for a good backhand serve.

Under Observation
Carefully watched by Haydn Upson, Sam Pitt demonstrates his ability with the forehand drive. A shot he has learnt to play to great effect.
