Welcome to the latest edition of Picture News - adopting the current house style.

This edition features pictures from the Chelmsford Championships held over the weekend 26 - 28 January 2001. A few more pictures will follow in a later edition.

Men's Champion Lorestas Trumpauskas taking time out en-route to his third successive Men's Singles title to go through the rudiments of scoring with his son.
Making a welcome return to the Championships was Julie Vansertima - 10 times Ladies Champion between 1977 - 1989. And she didn't disappoint; making her come back year trophy number 11.
A player, surprisingly, making his debut in the Chelmsford Championships was the legendary Stuart Gibbs - former England No.3. Stuart went on to win the Veterans and O50's titles and reached the semi finals of the Men's event and finals of the Men's Doubles
Leanne Bentley is no stranger to the Championships, and her record in the tournament was again an excellent one. Winning the Junior Girls Singles, Junior Doubles (with partner Matthew Staines) and Handicap Singles. She was also runner-up in the Mixed Doubles with partner Dave Window.
And just for good measure, and to show that members of the League Management Committee also take part in the tournament, we feature League Chairman Richard Hiskey. he may not have been a tournament winner but does he have a winning management team?
