a welcome return to the Championships was Julie Vansertima - 10
times Ladies Champion between 1977 - 1989. And she didn't
disappoint; making her come back year trophy number 11. |

A
player, surprisingly, making his debut in the Chelmsford
Championships was the legendary Stuart Gibbs - former England
No.3. Stuart went on to win the Veterans and O50's titles and
reached the semi finals of the Men's event and finals of the
Men's Doubles |

| Leanne
Bentley is no stranger to the Championships, and her record in
the tournament was again an excellent one. Winning the Junior
Girls Singles, Junior Doubles (with partner Matthew Staines) and
Handicap Singles. She was also runner-up in the Mixed Doubles
with partner Dave Window. |

And
just for good measure, and to show that members of the League
Management Committee also take part in the tournament, we
feature League Chairman Richard Hiskey. he may not have been a
tournament winner but does he have a winning management team? |
