The article below, taken from the London Metro for 3 July 2000, was one of many appearing in the press following the ETTA ruling to adopt the new 40mm ball for all competitions from 1 July 2000.

C&DTTL supported the call for the introduction of the new ball. At the same time making similar points to those expressed in the article concerning the impact on many clubs of the wasted stock of old balls. Regrettably the ETTA have felt unable to offer a replacement or compensation service for unused old balls.

The new ball will apply to all C&DTTL matches for the new season 2000/01.
